WEIGHT A Minute…

Weight does not dictate wellness…Wellness dictates weight and what it’s made of.

I’m not a huge fan of targeting weight loss as a wellness solution because raw weight measurements require a much larger story be told on their behalf.

We know that thin humans can have cancer, diabetes, depression, Alzheimer’s, and autoimmune disorders. And high weights can reflect the extremes of high muscle mass or obesity.

To simply reduce calories and take a weight-loss shake can help the symptom, but not always shift the cause and may not have lasting results.

Weight gain is a symptom of something changing and that may be malfunction.
But the tissue status and type that the weight measurement is made of, tells the deeper tale.

As we know, Adipose tissue (fat) amount and placement is very different metabolically than skeletal or visceral muscle.

The addition and location of body fat is the symptom of a core imbalance and not about calories alone.

Fat deposition will be rooted in nutrient density deficiencies, malabsorption, resource depletion, and changing cellular metabolism.

And at the foundation of all of that is some type of stressor.

To understand the core of weight gain, tissue type, and placement, there are certain tests that can be done to better individualize a solution and work toward being healthy from the inside-out.

These tests include questionnaires, hair, saliva, urine, or blood tests.

As a functional medicine practitioner, I will order vast panels to explore the connections of systems and to dive deeply into biology.

These tests lie far beyond the information gathered in your practitioners typical blood panel and are not intended to deliver a diagnoses.

They are intended to provide a map to a problem in your patterns and pathways. They help me understand the nutrients to apply to correct deficiency and promote tissue healing.

Wellness plans are added to support your investment into yourself because as you desire a an outside change, it requires an inside change.
